The book for this course was interesting and through provoking. There were many good points made throughout as well as a good summary statement at the end that called for church leaders to continue to fight for the necessary change in the church that will make fulfilling the Great Commission a reality. I do believe he contradicted himself at the end of the book though. After making a great case for battling narcissism in the church be ends the book by saying that we the ones doing the work of redemption now, the church. While I doubt he meant that we are being saved by the church, it does seem to be quite contradictory to say that we must strive not to focus upon ourselves, and then ascribe the work of redemption to the church instead of to the triune God. I'm sure the author meant nothing sinister by it, but it does highlight that we need to be diligent to be consistent in our theology and practice.
